Frequently Asked Questions
Are your products "natural"?
With the exception of the gentle preservative we use in our Egyptian Milk & Honey Foaming Cleanser, which is required to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold in any product that contains water or aloe, all of our ingredients are naturally derived. We do not use synthetic fragrances, harsh preservatives or artificial colors.
Are your products vegan?
We use a sustainably harvested Manuka honey in our Egyptian Milk & Honey Foaming Cleanser, so that product is not considered vegan.
Are your products preservative free?
It is necessary to use a broad spectrum preservative in any product containing water or aloe. When added to other ingredients like oils, water and aloe create a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and mold. We understand that many preservatives disrupt hormones and are toxic when applied topically, so we use a gentle, topically safe preservative at the bare minimum amount needed to ensure the quality of our products and the safety of our customers.
Are your products gluten free?
Our products do not use any ingredients sourced from wheat.
Do your products contain artificial colors?
Our products are free from artificial colors.
Where are your products manufactured?
We manufacture our products in the United States.
Do your products contain tree nuts?
Yes. Our products contain tree nut oils.
Do your products contain soy?
Our products do not contain soy or soy-derived ingredients.
Are your products organic?
We use organic ingredients where at all possible.
Is there real milk in your products?
We love milk. But in creating our products we decided to use botanical oils with similar skin-conditioning properties due to the difficulty (and it's difficult) of safely preserving milk in skincare products.
Do you test your products on animals?
Absolutely not. We love animals and would never do anything to elicit the disapproval of Sir David Attenborough. Aside from using his name in our FAQ section.
Egypt has always held a special fascination for us. It existed for 3,000 years as a distinct entity. Ancient Greeks and Romans deferred to it as an older culture and were influenced by its art and medicine. It was one of the first superpowers in history with the first recorded medical tradition in the world. Ancient Egypt is the definition of epic and it's been exciting to bring to life a product line celebrating its incredibly rich history.
