Key ingredients
Every ingredient earns its place
Every ingredient earns its place, including every essential oil. Ancient Egyptians used fragrant oils and resins in ointments, personal care and anointing preparations. Our modern aromatic botanicals likewise have roles beyond fragrance: research into their compounds explores antioxidant activity, skin comfort, surface-cleansing properties and pathways relevant to skin aging. Each is chosen individually for the complete formula. We do not assume that every modern botanical was used in ancient Egypt.
Heritage
- The balanos oil of the Nile Valley, named in the Ebers papyrus in a wrinkle preparation with frankincense.
- Perfumers favored it as a base oil, prizing its ability to carry scent and care in one preparation.

- A linoleic-rich oil studied for barrier support and skin conditioning.
- Research points to conditioning support for the skin barrier.

- The rare East African butter of the Nile's upper reaches.

No, not every formula is vegan. Our Milk & Honey Foaming Cleanser contains manuka honey, and our Egyptian Blue Endless Glow Balm contains beeswax-derived Cera Bellina. See each product's ingredient list for details.
Water-containing skincare needs an effective preservative system to help prevent microbial growth. We use an appropriate preservative in our Milk & Honey Foaming Cleanser; our anhydrous products have different preservation requirements.
Our skincare products are gluten free and contain no wheat- or gluten-derived ingredients. Contact us if you have specific allergy concerns.
We do not add artificial colorants to our skincare formulas.
Our products are made in small batches in the United States.
Some formulas contain tree nut oils. We do not intentionally add soy-derived ingredients. Please consult individual ingredient lists if you have allergies.
